The restaurants are finally open after a long 3 months plus of home-cooking (not that I didn’t enjoy it) and I just could not wait to hit one of my top three spots in Wolverhampton, Hamilton’s Restaurant at A Park View Hotel. My go to dish here is the ribeye steak, so considering this is my first review here it surely was what I was going to choose.
Sat in the conservatory, even with screens and full social distancing measures in place we still felt comfortable and at home in one of our family favourite restaurants. For my starter I had breaded fried halloumi sticks which came with a spiced mango chutney & yoghurt dip with coriander and mint. The halloumi, which is typically salty and tangy, came fresh and hot much less chewy than I have had it at other restaurants (which I am most grateful for) and had a perfect mozzarella like texture. The dip was unlike any other I have tried before, its mixture of basic ingredients resulted in a divine tasting concoction.
I used to have steak very often and I find it genuinely hard to describe but I’ll give you my best shot. I like my steak medium well so that is of course what I had, along with a large mushroom, some chips and peppercorn sauce. I really took my time with this dish savouring every feeling and flavour. The tender and juicy steak was perfect with the peppercorn sauce and eaten along with the chips and mushroom gave a sensation like that of Remy in Ratatouille trying strawberry and cheese. This relatively common dish (at least I think it is), as usual lived up to my expectations and I obviously will have it again. I highly recommend it if you choose to dine at Hamilton’s.
Whilst there, I additionally sampled the tagliatelle with Mediterranean roasted veg and prawns, creamy basil pesto sauce and grated parmesan cheese which was another exquisite dish which I will be sure to have on my next visit.
Last minute lunches are always the best but considering we called in 5 minutes before getting to the restaurant everything was perfect, but I wouldn’t expect anything but greatness from one of the best restaurants in Wolverhampton.
